About
William David Whitley, M.D., began his medical training in general surgery at Georgetown University and later developed a keen interest in the area of vascular surgery. He completed vascular surgery fellowships at The Mayo Clinic and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Whitley served on staff at Brown University, where he was the director of the ultrasound laboratory. Later, he joined the staff at The University of Alabama at Birmingham.
He has received many honors and is a member of numerous surgical societies. He holds board certification in vascular surgery and general surgery from the American Board of Surgery. He is the author of more than 70 papers and book chapters on vascular surgery. He has been the invited lecturer at meetings throughout the United States and Europe. He has over 30 years of experience treating vascular disorders.
Dr. Whitley has extensive experience in carotid artery disease or carotid endarterectomy, peripheral vascular disease and peripheral vascular procedures.
