He earned his medical degree from Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. McDonald was exposed to medicine at an early age through his father, a family physician, who has been a great inspiration to him. His time volunteering at a regional burn center in college opened his eyes to the enjoyment of working closely with patients.
Working with patients to help them make decisions that will improve their daily lives, as well as prevent or manage their acute/chronic disease(s), is what he enjoys. His practice philosophy is built on the saying, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." He utilizes lifestyle modification and helps his patients understand when medical intervention is needed. Dr. McDonald strives to treat all of his patients with the respect and time they deserve. He assists his patients in navigating the medical world and will work closely with their specialists and other healthcare professionals.
In his spare time, Dr. McDonald enjoys biking, hiking, fishing and golfing. He loves listening to music and watching performance arts. He enjoys digging through crates of old records and has an ever growing vinyl record collection.
